چکیده
This study presents the daily atmospheric circulation patterns at surface and altitude related to South Atlantic Convergence Zone (SACZ) events that occurred between 2007 2017. For this analysis, Principal Pattern Sequence Analysis (PPSA) sea level pressure geopotential height reanalysis were used. Four typical associated with SACZ episodes identified. Three of them are propagation a cold front toward southeastern Brazil post-frontal anticyclone moving over Ocean. The fourth pattern is presence cut-off low centered central-south region induces moisture transport from Ocean Amazon basin most Brazil. Considering first three patterns, they represent, respectively, frontal wave, classical front, slow-moving front. All these provide permanent northwesterly winds in lower troposphere two days before occurrence.

Interannual and Interdecadal Variability of the South Atlantic Convergence Zone
Interannual variations of the summertime (January−March) atmospheric circulation over subtropical South America are examined during the period 1958–97 using the NCEP/NCAR Reanalysis data. It is found from an empirical orthogonal function (EOF) analysis that an anomalous upper-tropospheric stationary eddy in the lee of the Andes tends to accompany a dipole in anomalous vertical motion. An anomal...
متن کاملAn objective criterion for determining the South Atlantic Convergence Zone
The South Atlantic Convergence Zone (SACZ) is the dominant summertime cloudiness feature of subtropical South America and the western South Atlantic Ocean, having a significant influence on the precipitation regime of southeastern Brazil. This paper proposes an objective criterion based mainly on precipitation, as this variable is easily obtained on general circulation models simulating past, p...
متن کاملSimulated precipitation response to SST forcing and potential predictability in the region of the South Atlantic convergence zone
The sensitivity of the precipitation response in the South Atlantic convergence zone (SACZ) to sea surface temperature (SST) anomaly is investigated by an inter-model comparison study of ensembles of multidecadal integrations of two atmospheric general circulation models (AGCMs)—version 1 of the NASA Seasonal-to-Interannual Prediction Project (NSIPP-1) model, and the NCAR community climate mode...
متن کاملRelationship between Atmospheric Water Vapor Transfer and Daily Rainfall in Iran
Introduction Because the occurrence of precipitation is directly related to the humidity in the atmosphere or precipitation systems, the study of humidity in the form of precipitable water and the transfer of water vapor is considered in atmospheric studies. Convergence Moisture flux is effective on precipitation, so its effect is much greater in the warmer months, especially in the lower at...
